With initial funding through a partnership between the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, this environmentally-friendly, 25,000 square foot faciliity is adaptable to clients' unique needs in commercializing agri-bio and marine-based products.
The new Innovation Centre at AgriTECH Park opened December 2011 and is a key component of the Park’s plan to be the premiere incubator and accelerator for bio-based companies in Atlantic Canada. Companies located at the Centre have access to an entrepreneurial community and affordable office/lab space with flexible lease terms in one of the best business and research climates in Nova Scotia.
Innovation Centre businesses are not alone. They benefit from the Park's other tenants including the Atlantic BioVenture Centre's expert team of researchers/advisors, AgraPoint and its production and food safety specialists (both located at that Park) and the neighbouring Nova Scotia Agricultural College, a research-intenisve university well-known for its problem-solving research with the agriculture and bioresource sectors.
